Youth Leadership in Human Rights
10 schools, 10 projects, 1 goal: better communities!
On May 12, 2011 the successful third year of MARL’s Human Right Education Program will be coming to completion. This year’s workshop series in youth leadership in Human Rights provided nearly 100 Manitoban students with a forum to create projects to improve their communities and develop their leadership skills. They targeted pressing issues such as the homeless, refugee integration, human trafficking and food security and now these youth will show their leaders what can be accomplished by sharing their vision of a more just society with invited guests at an evening celebration at the University of Winnipeg.
MARL would like to thank the Winnipeg Foundation for their continued support of this important program. These creative and enthusiastic high school students who participated in this year’s program serve as an example of how to become more aware and active in our communities; they are taking responsibility for the future of their communities and they challenge us to do the same.
