Attention High School Teachers!! DEADLINE COMING UP! Now Accepting High Schools for MARL's Youth Leadership in Social Justice Program

The Youth Leadership in Social Justice program works with high school students and teachers across Manitoba to raise awareness of social justice and human rights issues in our local, national and global communities and works to develop leadership skills in participating students. Through a series of activities, which includes three full day workshops between October and April, students and their teachers develop  projects within their community and work in collaboration with schools across the province.

We offer

  • Orientation and training sessions for teachers
  • Payment for substitutes
  • On going support for students and teachers as their project goes from idea to action to reflection
  • An awards night to celebrate student effort and achievement

To register for the program, fill out this form and send it in by October 12, 2012.

In the past two years of running, this program has worked with 21 schools, more than 180 students and seen the completion of 19 projects. The creativity, passion and work ethic of the students is amazing. This year, students said

“Now I know we can make a change, and it can create a big impact because this program can get you to inspire (others) to make a change. ”

“I didn’t realize so many other people were interested in the same human rights issues!”

“MARLY has open(ed) my eyes to all the problems people have faced and how they still come out with a positive turn to their experiences, like creating music or art instead of violence. ”
