What is the Youth Leadership in Social Justice Program?
The Manitoba Association for Rights and Liberties, with the generous support of the Winnipeg Foundation has developed a Youth Leadership in Social Justice Program.
Our program is a workshop series which provides Manitoba students with a forum to create projects to improve their communities. We guide the teachers and students through the process by providing them with the necessary tools to develop leadership skills in the area of social justice and beyond.
In the past two years of running, this program has worked with 21 schools, more than 180 students, and seen the completion of 19 projects. The creativity, passion and work ethic of the students is amazing!
This is what some of them said:
"Now I know we can make a change, and it can create a big impact because this program can get you to inspire (others) to make a change."
"I didn't realize so many other people were interested in the same human rights issues!"
" MARLY has open(ed) my eyes to all the problems people have faced and how they still come out with a positive turn to their experiences, like creating music or art instead of violence."
MARLY is now in French!
We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our Youth Leadership in Social Justice Program to include both a French and English program. For more information, contact Roland.
