The Manitoba Association for Rights and Liberties (MARL) extends its appreciation to the Department of Canadian Heritage and to the United Way of Winnipeg, whose support made publication of this work possible.

MARL also acknowledges the assistance of the many individuals and organizations who responded with their skill, time, and advice. Most notable among these were members of the Winnipeg School Divisions, whose suggestions helped set the direction for this undertaking. Many individuals lent their expertise at important stages of this project. Diane Dwarka of the Educational Resource Department, Manitoba Education and Training, and Bill Potter of the Educational Resource Centre, Seven Oaks School Division provided good-natured and excellent assistance in searching out titles and materials.
