Education
The Education Committee is responsible for the planning and implementation of MARL's educational initiatives, events, and projects focused on human rights awareness building. The Education Committee sets the direction on human rights issues of focus of MARL each year and plans community-based initiatives to educate and raise awareness in these areas.
Policy and Legislative Affairs
The Policy and Legislative Affairs Committee (PLAC) is responsible for reviewing bills before the Manitoba Legislature for potential human rights issues. PLAC conducts research on human rights issues and publishes policy papers and reports with regard to current issues of importance.
Human Resources
The Human Resources Committee is responsible for the acquisition and orientation of board members, as well as recruitment and retention strategies for non-board volunteers. This committee sets the direction for MARL's human resources strategies and ensures the board represents a diverse array of professional experiences.
Fundraising and Member Development
The Fundraising and Member Devleopment Committee is responsible for the planning and implementation of fundraising and donor management strategies, as well as member recruitment and engagement. This committee sets the direction and targets to ensure organizational financial sustainability, as well as ensure policies are in place to ensure an involved and informed membership.
Finance
The Finance Committee is responsible for the financial accountability of the organization. The committee reviews MARL's financial statements and provides regular financial reporting to the Board of Directors. This committee sets the direction for the operational budget and ensures the organization is financially accountable to its funders, members, and auditors.
Executive
The Executive Committee is responsible for oversight of the daily operations, as well as long-term strategic planning of MARL's mission and sustainability. The Executive Committee directs the work of all other committees toward MARL's organizational goals. This committee is comprised of the Board President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, most recent Past President, and the Executive Director.
