Equity and Diversity in the Workplace

Diverse and inclusive workplaces are recognized as key to the well-being of employees. Diversity and equity lead to better performance, drive innovation, and attract top talent. Creating an inclusive workplace, however, is a journey with many obstacles. In this workshop, participants explore different kinds of diversity in the workplace, and both discover their unconscious biases as well as strategies to confront them.

Human Rights Principles in the Workplace

This workshop offers an overview of Human Rights principles and encourages participants to engage critically with how the concepts of equity, justice, and freedom reveal themselves in the workplace. Participants will become familiar with the main Human Rights documents and their application to real-life workplace situations. Equipped with this knowledge, staff are better able to take appropriate action when facing Human Rights dilemmas (e.g., freedom of speech vs. hate speech) and promoting cultural safety.

Ability, difference and inclusion

Fostering workplace inclusiveness for people of all abilities is a shared responsibility. Both leaders and co-workers can model inclusive language and behaviour to empower each other and build dynamic teams. This workshop unpacks the notion of difference and helps staff to develop tools necessary to challenge ableism. The workshop includes activities to design assessable workplaces and inclusive workplace culture and reviews employment legislation related to differing ability.
