English Language Arts
Given that language frames our understanding of the world, the English language arts program is vital in promoting the skills, attitudes and values for a culture of human rights and civil liberties. The integrated nature of the six language arts: listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing and representing means that they work together to create an individual’s view of self and the world. The language arts curriculum promotes the importance of inquiry, meta-cognition, critical thinking, and the development of reflective learners. These are all skills required of citizens who live in a society characterized by the principle of political and social equity for all.
