Human
Human rights emerge from the sufferings of human beings who have been denied the conditions of fruitful existence. The survivors’ truth has the power to turn human arrogance and greed to humane compassion and open-heartedness. Listening to others’ stories and telling our own…this is the way that human awareness and consciousness has been raised throughout human history. In sharing circles and around kitchen tables, in documentaries and diaries, stories connect people and move them to action. It is through human stories that Human Rights education can have the most impact and create a shift in perception and empathy.
