Science
Human Rights and Science can help students understand that the Earth supports both human life and human economies, not the other way around. We hope that teachers will use the sample science lesson plans which MARL has created and expand their traditional themes to include human rights education.Economic development, human health, human rights, and the environment are all inextricably linked. The United Nations International Decade for Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014) points to the interrelatedness of education for human rights and education for sustainable development, and is a prime opportunity for including human rights education in the sciences. One of the United Nations Millennium Goals is to ensure environmental sustainability. This goal is echoed in the Manitoba Education Citizenship and Youth resource document Education for a Sustainable Future.
