    Statement on Black Lives Matter

The Manitoba Association for Rights and Liberties stands in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. We believe critical conversations around racism here in Manitoba are but a starting point to unpack discomforts and to reach mutual understandings. We work to encourage introspection amongst Manitobans and inform our actions by listening to marginalized communities.

Importantly, as an ally organization, MARL understands the need to continuously reflect on white supremacy and work to recognize our place in systems of oppression. Racial discrimination in Manitoba is systemic and persistent – our vision of a society where diversity is valued, liberties are respected, and rights are lived is one that is ongoing for ours and many lifetimes. We are determined to do better.
